Walnut Waterfall Edge Media Console
After building the first red oak media console I made some subtle improvements on the request of this console made out of walnut. To fit the requirements it’s just a few inches longer and a couple inches deeper but with an open back design. The cabinet features a waterfall edge, which means it is a continuous piece of wood wrapping around the edges. The left, top and right sides are made from three large boards with mitered corners. Many woodworkers try to exclude the sap wood (the lighter wood from the outside of the tree) from their choices of lumber but I actually really like how it looks. It’s all just preference and there’s no correct answer, but I like how this looks!
